This is to report our exhibition at the Combined Exhibition of Advanced Technologies (CEATEC2019) recently held between October 15 (Tue.) and October 18 (Fri.) at Makuhari Messe International Conference Hall (Mihama ward, Chiba city).
The primary aim of this year’s exhibition was promoting the extreme user-friendliness of the ECHONET specifications towards the realization of various services in Society 5.0 under the slogan of “Strengthening our approach to service providers”.
In addition, we introduced the world view that various service providers and related device manufacturers can easily use ECHONET Lite devices.Our booth had around 400 visitors and 140 of them participated in our questionnaire.
Using a demonstration system, we explained that we can achieve various services (e.g. energy management using air conditioners, healthcare simulating hemomanometer measurement data, remote maintenance of home appliances and devices, and security systems focusing on locking doors and windows) through applying a Web API currently developed by the ECHONET Consortium.
The ECHONET Lite Web API Guidelines currently available on the official website of the ECHONET Consortium show the outline of points of view requiring consideration to realize Web API services and case studies.
We are currently developing the updated version of the Guidelines in the hope of releasing it in January of next year. In addition to this, we plan to start providing experimental cloud services to Consortium member companies based on the updated version next spring—so please be looking forward to these developments!

In addition, the following four lectures were given at the lounge theater in the special exhibition area (Smart X).
– Current ECHONET consortium initiatives
– Web API mechanism that can create links between clouds applied to demonstrations at exhibition booths
– Certification system for cases exceeding 1,000 cases in total
– Examples of systems using ECHONET Lite specifications
As we plan to give another similar lecture at the ECHONET Consortium Seminar at the ET&IoT Technology 2019 conference to be held at Pacifico Yokohama, we recommend that those who missed the presentation take advantage of this opportunity. The lecture will take place November 20 (Wed.) through 22 (Fri.) between 10:30 AM and 12:30 PM.
