On February 8, the Tenth Forum was held at the Large Hall, Seavans S Building 1F.
The forum was successful with 86 total participants, including lecturers and technical exhibitors.
As a special lecture, Mr. Koizumi from the Information Economy Division, Commerce and Information Policy Bureau at METI presented the ministry’s initiatives in a talk titled “Achiving a policy for promoting IoT and ‘Connected Industries’”, while Dr. Masao Isshiki, professor of the Kanagawa Institute of Technology, told the story of making ECHONET Lite AIF specifications into international standards under the title of “Making people happy with Smarthouses” and reported on a discussion held at 2018 SMART GRID AND HEMS WORKSHOP in Taiwan. With the lectures, Dr. Isshiki emphasized the significance of open platforms through “ECHONET Lite and IoT＋Web”.
Then, Mr. Kawasaki from Panasonic introduced products and technologies using their “HOME IoT”, enabling many participants to get a real sense of actual practical applications for ECHONET Lite.
ECHONET committees also reported on their activities during 2018 and member companies introduced and exhibited their latest technologies and products. Then, a presentation on usage procedures and a demonstration of the “ECHONET Lite Web API experimental cloud” that started service in December were given to encourage more use.
After completion of the Forum, participants joined a social gathering held in the main hall of the Forum site and developed friendships with other participants.
