The 16th ECHONET Forum was held on February 9, 2022 using the Live distribution method. Professor Ishii of Waseda University gave a special lecture on “New stage of electric power data utilization”, and President Asahi announced a new roadmap for ECHONET 2.0.
2. ECHONET Symposium 2022 Online
ECHONET Symposium 2022 Online was held on March 11, 2022 with the theme of “ECHONET contributing to a data-driven society”. It was a great success with lectures by Assistant Manager Komatsubara, Information Economy Division, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and related organizations and member companies.
3. Plugfest
On February 3rd and 4th, the 27th Plugfest was held in a hybrid configuration with remote participation, with the Kanagawa Institute of Technology HEMS Certification Support Center as the main venue.
4. 17 ECHONET IoT MASTERs have been certified
Certified 17 ECHONET IoT MASTERs (as of the end of March, 2022).
5. Exhibitions
Exhibited at ENETX2022 (January 26-28, 2022, International Exhibition Center, Tokyo) and CES2022 (January 5-7, 2022, Las Vegas).
As part of the ECHONET 2.0 dissemination promotion measures, the “ECHONET IoT Master System” commenced on November 1, 2021. This system was established with the aim of developing IoT human resources (ECHONET IoT MASTER) related to ECHONET Lite and ECHONET Lite Web API, and to realize “providing learning opportunities” and “visualizing abilities and skills”.
2. CEATEC 2021 ONLINE exhibition
We exhibited at CEATEC 2021 ONLINE held from October 19th to 22nd, 2021. It was very well received by more than 1,900 people.
3. Overseas exhibitions
In addition to exhibiting locally at Enlit Europe (European energy-related exhibition), we also exhibited at Energy Taiwan (Taiwan’s energy-related exhibition) online.
1. ECHONET Lite experimental cloud became available to the academic members
We made the ECHONET Lite experimental cloud available to the academic members which had been available only to the managing members and general members from July 30th (All services and documents are in Japanese only).
2. The detail information of certified products such as declaration of installed object, and the issued manufacturer code were open to the public
To promote the spread of service businesses that utilize ECHONET Lite devices, the detail information of certified products (All documents are written in Japanese only), and the issued manufacturer code were open to the public from October 1st.
3. The 15th ECHONET Forum was held
The 15th ECHONET Forum was held on July 2nd.Each presentation was delivered by streaming from the venue and the speaker’s office via the internet this time as a countermeasure against COVID-19.
4. The 26th Plug Fest was held
The 26th Plug Fest was held from September 9th to 10th. This event was held completely online with all teams connecting remotely because of a state of emergency. 6 teams (6 companies) were participated.
5. Overseas exhibition
We participated online at the Enlit Asia held from September 20th to 22nd and the presentation by the representative director and the latest overseas video were introduced.
1. ECHONET Lite products shipments reach 100 million units
Adding the number of installed home appliances and smart meters equipped with ECHONET Lite by the end of FY2020 and the planned number of installed smart meters in 2020, the number of devices equipped with the ECHONET Lite standard reached 112.34 million at the end of FY2020.
2. The 8th Regular General Meeting was held
The 8th Regular General Meeting was held on June 9th. We delivered the general meeting to our members by streaming via the internet this time as a countermeasure against COVID-19.

4. ECHONET Lite WebAPI
ECHONET Lite WebAPI Guidelines API Specification section Ver. 1.1.2 and Device Specifications Ver. 1.3.0 were published in June 2021. “ELWebAPISyudy” which is learning application for learning specifications of ECHONET Lite WebAPI was also released in June 2021.
5. The 3rd Home Appliances Open Innovation Workshop was held
A workshop co-hosted by JEMA, Keio university and ECHONET Consortium was held on June 10th with VPP business operators.
6. Joint research with JAIST
We signed a joint research agreement with Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST) and have started specification examination and technical verification of advanced themes related to API and data linkage.
