In August 2015, ECHONET Lite HEMS Research Center has been established at Chulalongkorn University in Thailand. It is the second center in ASEAN following Malaysian ECHONET Lite HEMS Center.

This Research Center at Chulalongkorn University will serve as a general research project of Computer Engineering Faculty in the university. ECHONET Lite devices are installed at laboratories of communication engineering and electrical engineering to support projects.

Professor Natawut, one of the project leaders said, “We had the actual achievement of energy management such as power consumption visualizing system using smart meter in our campus. It is important to be able to give concrete form to open ‘energy management system,’ that has been discussed with Keio University. Until now we collaborated mainly with European or Chinese agencies, but it is the first time to collaborate with Japanese Interface management body. So we expect further growth.”
